 DATA IMPUTATION Data are characteristics or information, usually numerical, that are collected through observation. In a more technical sense, data are a set of values of qualitative or quantitative variables about one or more persons or objects, while a datum (singular of data) is a single value of a single variable. In statistics,  Imputation is the process of replacing missing data with substituted values. Missing Data Mechanism The first step is to understand your data and more importantly, the data collection process. This can lead to the possibility of reducing data collection errors. The nature or mechanism of missing data can be categorized into three major classes. These categories are based on the degree of relationship between the nature of the missing data and observed values.
